Spending the Evening at Okinawa American Village

The hidden American Village in the middle of Okinawa

Located less than 30-minute bus ride away from Naha city, American Village is totally worth visiting. This 'city' offers a variety of food and drink options from local specialty to authentic American steak. You can see the gigantic ferris wheel near the entrance, which will light up at night. The Sunset Beach is also here.

When my friend and I visited Okinawa in mid April, we stayed at Manza beach in Onna, the upper northern part of Okinawa island. Arriving at American Village at around 4PM, we spent our whole evening taking tonnes of photographs and chilling around before heading to the beach for sunset.

Catching the sunset

It would be your lucky day if the weather in Okinawa is nice and sunny without being overly cloudy. The day we went was pure PERFECTION; couldn't have asked for a better day. We were sipping on the sunshine by the beach during the golden hour. The sun went down beautifully. Thousands of photos were taken. That was the best evening of my life. I couldn't help but to feel so nostalgically happy beyond words with such unique vibes and chill music walking by the beach.

Getting there

You can take taxi straight from Naha city for about 4000 yen ($40). For a cheaper option, local buses are also available: take the stop at Kuwae (桑江) or U.S Naval Hospital (軍病院前). From the bus stop, you can easily walk there by simply following the Ferris Wheel.

Japan is famous for pineapple because of PPAP (just kidding!)
